Back Home

After having to wake up at 3:30 am Sunday East Coast time in order to make my flight at the airport, I spent yesterday pretty much being a slug on my bed. I couldn’t fall asleep, even though I was up at what would have been 1 am Seattle time.

The reason for my lack of sleep? Firstly, I have a few things to say about bourbon and the big name producers, and I was trying to sift through the evidence that was carefully selected for me to see.

Secondly, I got to network with a few other internet content folk (podcasters, bloggers, etc), and I found myself excited at the prospects that this site may have. Essentially, the plans that I have for Accidental Hedonist seem to be going down the right path. The problem is that when I focus on the back end of this here blog (things like dealing with hosting services, finding new blog engines, creating business plans, etc), the front end (content) seems to suffer. This will likely be addressed in the next few weeks as well.

I know I had one big announcement earlier this year (the book deal). But there is one more coming, one that deals specifically with the direction of this site. I think it’s going to be a wonderful step forward. But I can’t say too much about it…yet.

However, I can say that after three years using B2Evolution as Accidental Hedonist’s blog engine of choice, Tara and I have discovered that we’ve actually outgrown it. In the next few weeks, we’re going to be importing the archives into a WordPress engine.

The reason? Growth. To me, growth is the best possible reason to make such a change.

And after the WordPress is in place, the fun really begins.

I promise to have a full accounting of the important parts of the bourbon trip tomorrow. I have much to say, but I also have many pictures to share and not enough time to put them up this morning.
