Thursday evening, some 20-plus Seattle-area restaurants will showcase their use of local farm-raised ingredients in an event called “Dine Out for Family Farmers.” The goal of Thursday’s effort is to show support for family farmers in our region and heighten customer awareness of family-farm-raised ingredients featured at some of our best and favorite Seattle restaurants.
The somewhat hastily thrown-together event was conceived late last week and is being spearheaded by the King County Department of Natural Resources and Parks.
“It’s part of an awareness campaign,” said King County spokesman Logan Harris. “Family farms benefit if people make the connection between their food purchases and local farm products. We want people to see this same thing when they go to restaurants. When they seek out local farm products on menus, they support restaurants that support family farms.”
