As we move on from water to explore other bits of food, we stop next at …Honey! That’s right, Winnie the Pooh’s favorite food.
Why honey? Well, it ties in nicely to another water recipe I found (which I post soon enough), and it leads nicely to the topic next to read up on/investigate/obsess about…tea!
Some trivial facts about honey…
- Honey is the oldest sweet known to man.
- Ancient Romans greeted their guests with honey, saying, “Here is honey which the gods provide for your health. It is the elixir of life. Partake.”
- Honey is the ONLY NATURAL FOOD that is made without destroying any kind of life.
- It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride’s father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink. Mead is a honey beer, and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the “honey month” or what we know today as the “honeymoon.”
Cool stuff, eh?
But the real reason for obsessing about honey?
Yup, it gives me the excuse to imbibe some alcoholic products, which I need to make up for the fact that I’ve spent the past few weeks freaking out about bottled water.
