Thinking back to Christmas past, there has been one running theme – I can remember the food. It’s not all I can remember, mind you, but it is primarily what comes to mind. Whether it’s the fruits and nuts that were found in my stocking, the Christmas breakfast my Dad made for us children with hot chocolate from real chocolate, to the Goose he made with chestnut stuffing, to the annual feasts we had with our relatives, what with the hams, turkeys, booze, and roast beast.
Okay, so we didn’t have roast beast. That was another family.
My point is – at this time of year, it’s easy to get lost in the work that comes with making foods and prepping the meals. But the key here is to remind yourself that forty years down the road, a few of the folks who were at these meals will have fond remembrances of these moments. Make sure you take the time to allow yourself to be a part of them.
Of course, I’m saying this while parked out at a resort in the Cascade Mountains, where I don’t have to deal with such hassles, so there you go. To each their own, eh?
Merry Christmas all and Happy Holidays!
