The recent purchase of yet another Italian Cookbook marked a major milestone in my life – I now have over fifty cookbooks in my home. This is a weird place to be at. While I know that some people out there will think this is an excessive number, I still think the collection is rather sparse. In fact, I know of several other people out there who have hundreds.
I think that once you reach fifty cookbooks, it’s time to admit to yourself that you’re a collector. This is exactly what we are doing at the moment, in that we are converting a minimally used room in the house into an office, where the collection of food books (both cookbooks and otherwise), will be shelved in a centralized location.
The other weird item is that there is no one book which stands out at tops of my collection. There are some I use more than others, and some I use not at all. But there is no one book which I use all of the time. All have some tidbit of information that I needed at some point in the past and will possibly need in the future. I am, however quite smitten with the Irish Cookbook I picked up on the most recent journey, even if I haven’t cooked from it yet.
So this weeks poll is based on cookbooks. How many do you have? Do you have a favorite cookbook in your collection? Let us know in the comments.
