Around this time every year, one can skim the ads of their local newspaper or alt-weekly and find restaurants advertising special meals and deals for couples. Yes, it’s that time again. St. Valentine’s Day is fast approaching. Hallmark is getting ready for an influx of cash, chocolate makers have made their special candies, and restaurants around the country are selling the fact that out of all the places in their rescpective cities, theirs is the most romantic.
What I’m wondering is who participates in the latter activity? Who goes out every year, and who believes that it’s too much hassle. There’s a poll in the left column to let us in on your beliefs.
As for myself, I have done the Valentines/Restaurant paring once or twice in my life, but haven’t done so in a long time. It’s not that it’s a bad idea per se. I just don’t get worked up about Valentine’s Day.
But I know some people do, so feel free to let the rest of us know. As always, feel free to leave a comment or anecdote in the comments. Let us know of your best or worst Valentines Day experience at a restaurant, or simply defend your poll choice.
